Springfield …State Representative Renée Kosel (R-New Lenox) is the newest member of the Illinois House Republican Leadership Team. Representative Kosel was elected to the new position Wednesday by fellow members of the House Republican Caucus.
“I am honored by the confidence shown in me by my House Republican colleagues. For the families I represent, this means that I can provide them with an even stronger voice at the table on issues which are important to our local communities,” Kosel said.
Under new House Republican Caucus Rules instituted by Leader Tom Cross (R-Oswego), only half of the House Republican Leadership Team is appointed while the other half is elected by the entire caucus membership. Kosel fills the Leadership position vacated by the retirement of Representative Eileen Lyons (R-Western Springs).
“No one works harder than Renée for the needs of her district and for initiatives that House Republicans are working on to improve education and expand job opportunities,” Leader Cross said. “She will be a great asset to our leadership team.”
Kosel was first elected to the Illinois House in 1996. She currently serves as the Republican Spokesperson on the House Executive Committee and as a member of the Appropriations-Elementary and Secondary Education, Environment and Energy, Registration and Regulation and Gaming Committees.
